I’ve recently upgraded my blogging kit and changed my camera from the Canon 600D to the Olympus Pen EPL-7, yes, the well-loved blogger camera and so far I’m really enjoying it.
I decided to treat myself to some of the accessories that Olympus offer, so I purchased a camera bag and a hand strap from their leather collection and I thought I’d share my opinion on it as they are quite an investment.
As everyone knows, the Olympus Pen cameras are ‘THE’ blogger cameras, aimed at fashionistas and seen as not just a camera, but a fashion accessory also.
From camera straps to camera bags and even camera lens pouches, Olympus has it all!
I’ve personally gone with the Olympus Leather Shoulder Bag, here for £79.99, available in a gorgeous nude shade or classic black.
I chose the black shade as I have the black and silver E-PL7, I did love the look of the white one but I figured I’d get it covered in makeup from taking swatch photos, so the black seemed like the safer option.
Anyway, back to the camera bag…
The box looks like an expensive perfume box or something and the bag comes with its own dust bag which again, just increases the luxe feeling of it all.
The bag its self is a super soft feeling leather with silver hardware, including a magnetic popper clasp. The strap also silver hardware on it and can be adjusted to however you feel comfortable.
Upon opening the bag it has a very soft, dusky pink, suede feeling material with three compartments, you can adjust the width of these as the two dividers are held on with velcro so you can adjust it to fit whatever lens size you need.
It also has a pouch inside perfect for stashing your mobile phone or memory cards, personally, I think it would be good to put a little coin purse in there too, as it has enough space to.
I really do love the bag but the one downside for me, after using Canon cameras for years and being used to a huge camera bag with lots of sections, is that I can’t fit my battery charger and wire in here as well as my camera and lens, so I have to store these separately or not take them with me at all. I may invest in the bucket bag (here for £79.99) in the future as it seems much larger and is probably more my style.
The last accessory I purchased was a leather hand strap, as I prefer to have a hand strap around my wrist when taking photos because I’m super clumsy and the last thing I need is to drop my camera.
The leather hand strap is available in 6 different colours here for £14.99, I chose the black one, again to match my camera and the bag.
I don’t really have much to say about this as it’s just a hand strap, it is real leather again like the handbag and it is just the right size, the leather feels like a high-quality leather and it feels sturdy when holding the camera just by the strap and is comfortable to have on your hand or wrist while shooting photos.
The one accessory I may purchase is the shoulder strap and the camera outfit here for £49.99 as I like the idea of being able to protect the camera body a little more while in use and I would like a shoulder strap so I can hang it from my neck in between shots.
So, my final opinion on the Olympus Accessories…
Are they worth it? Yes. They feel really high-quality, sturdy and look amazing, the only downside is the size of the shoulder bag but they do offer larger versions if you feel like you’d need more space to carry more lenses or the charger etc.
